Digital Florence is a shared and federated model of governance for city innovation.
The process began with two benchmarks on Florentine territory: one involving the most innovative activities implemented by public utilities (Confservizi Cispel Toscana survey of 2013), the other derived from measurement with the Smart City Index of the city of Florence (2013-2015).
This measurement gave rise to the Manifesto per Firenze Digitale, a document of intent and definition of high level targets aimed at making Florence a highly innovative territory based on a key aspect: the sharing of digital assets.
Subsequently - with a document shared at European level with Bristol and San Sebastian for the FP7 STEEP project – the Florence Smart City Plan went as far as giving a thirty-year vision of innovative Florence.
From all the efforts made to define a medium-long term strategy, various concrete project paths have emerged with various city stakeholders:
Careggi – which has given rise to sharing the city Digital Signage system, Firenze WiFi, co-promotion of Florence University innovative apps - which has given rise to Resolute, Replicate, SIiMobility.
For public service agencies, the project has given rise to a three-year Plan known as “Digital Florence”, with utilities, Florence Chamber of Commerce and the Tuscany Region.
